Membership

  • The Thon Member programme is an electronically-based service. Members have access to their membership information, including points earned, transaction list and member profile at Your Page. Members log onto Your Page using their unique user name and password at thonhotels.no/.com/.be.
  • Thon Hotels is a part og Global Hotel Alliance (GHA). New Thon Members also becomes a part of the international loyalty programme GHA Discovery.
  • Membership communication in Thon Member mainly takes place online or by e-mail. Members can select not to receive e-mail from Thon Member from "My page", or Member Service on telephone +47 815 555 66.
  • Membership of Thon Member and GHA Discovery is free of charge.
  • As a member of Thon Member and GHA Discovery you get benefits on all GHA hotels worldwide. Read more at gha.com.
  • Thon Member offers separate benefits which only are available at our own Thon Hotels in Norway, Sweden, Belgium and The Netherlands.
  • Thon Member and GHA Discovery are personal memberships and can only be used by the cardholder.
  • Membership cards are sent for the levels Platinum and Black.
  • The Thon Member card cannot be used in combination with other loyalty cards, except SAS EuroBonus.
  • Thon Members which also hold a membership of SAS EuroBonus can choose whether they wish to receive regular Thon Member points or 500 SAS EuroBonus points per stay.
  • Abuse of membership may lead to Thon Member terminating the membership, and points earned will be cancelled.
  • Amendments to contact information, interests, preferences and password can be made at Your Page at thonhotels.no/member, or by contacting Member Service on telephone +47 815 555 66 or member@thonhotels.no.
  • All points are cancelled if you leave the Thon Member programme.  Points cannot be transferred to another member or to other loyalty programmes.
  • Thon Member reserves the right to amend the current rules and benefits and to terminate the benefits programme.

Membership levels

  • Thon Member has 3 levels.
    - Gold: The starting level for all new members.
    - Platinum: Minimum 10 nights in a twelve month period. If the requirement for 10 nights in a twelve month period is not fulfilled, a Platinum member will be returned to Gold level.
    - Black: Minimum 30 nights in a twelve month period.
  • Calculation of the membership level is based on calendar year. Upgrade of the membership is done consecutively when reaching the minimum requirements as described above. Downgrade of the membership occurs only once a year in February.
  • The member retains the level earned for 12 months after the date of earning. After these 12 months, the number of nights that the member has stayed in the course of the previous 12 months is calculated.

Earning points

  • You receive 1,500 points as a welcome bonus the first time you join the programme.
  • Members are given the right to earn points from the day they join the programme.
  • It may take up to 5 days before a transaction is entered in the system.
  • For hotels in Brussels bonus points are earned on accommodation rates equal to or higher than;
    - Thon Hotel Brussels City Center: € 80
    - Thon Hotel Brussels Airport: € 80
    - Thon Hotel Bristol Stephanie: € 100
    - Thon Hotel EU: € 120
    - Stanhope Hotel: € 120 
  • It is the responsibility of the member to state his or her membership number when booking a room, and when checking in or out of the hotel, in order to get the points registered in the membership account. 
  • Members receive 1,000 points per stay, for stays that qualify for points at Thon Conference and Thon City hotels. At Britannia Hotel in Trondheim, Thon Hotel Bristol and Thon Hotel Opera in Oslo, and Stanhope Hotel and Hotel Bristol Stephanie in Brussels, members receive 1,500 points per stay. Stays at Thon Budget give 800 points.
  • All ordinary prices and agreement prices (for companies and organisation) give the right to earn bonus points. Points are not awarded for free nights, bonus nights, stays by employees of Thon Hotels, stays in connection with agreements for extended stays, crew, sponsor prices or other special and third party agreements (such as hotels.com, booking.com, Coop Hotellkupp, etc.)
  • Thon Members have the oppurtunity of earning 500 frequent flyer bonus points with SAS EuroBonus per stay. The member can choose between earning Thon Member points and SAS EuroBonus points.
  • No points are given upon no-show.
  • Special rules apply for bonus earning during marketing promotions. These are laid down by Thon Hotels on an ad hoc basis.
  • Only one person per room used can earn the points.
  • Only the name printed on the card can earn the points. Points are earned only for your own stays, i.e. for 1 room and 1 person. Points are not earned when paying for others’ stays. Points are, however, earned independently of who pays for the stay.
  • Late registration of points can only take place on the basis of valid documentation such as hotel bills, invoices or credit card invoices. Confirmation of hotel bookings are not valid documentation. This must take place no later than 6 months after the stay. Please contact the hotel where you stayed, or Membership Service on telephone +47 815 555 66 or member@thonhotels.no, to late register your points.

Points’ validity

  • Points earned are cancelled automatically 3 years after being earned, while points earned before March 1th 2010 is valid for 5 years.
  • Point holdings can be checked on "My page".
  • When redeeming points, the oldest points are used first.
  • If the programme is terminated, the account holder’s points will be cancelled without compensation.

Membership benefits

  • Depending on the number of nights you stay during a 12 month period you will be a Thon Member of one of the levels Gold, Platinum and Black. When reaching the given number of minimum nights for qualifying for a new level your membership will be upgraded accordingly, and you will gain access to more benefits.
  • Downgrade of membership is done once a year in February.

Redeeming points

  • Bonus accommodation is booked through Membership Service by telephone +47 815 555 66 or member@thonhotels.no on the day before arrival at the latest. You can also book a bonus accommodation directly to the hotel you want to stay in. 
  • Upon booking you must state that it applies to a bonus booking.
  • Walk-in bookings cannot be paid for with points.
  • Only a limited number of rooms are allocated for redeeming bonus points. There may be rooms available in other price categories, even if the rooms allocated for bonus redemption are fully booked.
  • The bonus points are deduced from the member’s Thon Member account after the bonus stays have been redeemed.
  • Bonus accommodation can be changed or cancelled in accordance with the hotel’s cancellation rules. In the case of a no-show, Thon Hotels will deduct the points for the stay that was booked.
  • Bonus accommodation may be used by the member’s immediate family and friends, even if the member does not stay, as long as the member books the accommodation him or herself from Thon Hotels Service Centre.
  • Two or more members cannot add their points together or transfer their points to another member’s card in order to meet the limit for redemption. Bonus points cannot be used in part payment, and cannot be withdrawn in cash.
  • Information about account matters are given only to the member through Membership Service on telephone +47 815 555 66, or by logging into "My page" at thonhotels.com, and stating membership number and password.

Tax liability

  • Private use of bonus points that have been earned in a work connection are regarded as taxable income, and must be reported to the tax authorities.

General terms and conditions. 

  • The Thon Member programme is an electronically-based service. Membership communication takes place, therefore, primarily online and via e-mail.
  • Thon Member registers the name of the member, address and number of nights (including hotel name, date for the stay, rate per night, hotel concept (Budget, City, Conference), purpose of the stay etc.). The information is included in the membership profile and is used for calculating bonus points. Additionally the member can update the membership profile with interests and preferances connected to the hotel experience. This information is part of the membership profile and is used for offering relevant offers to the members. Thon Member will only make use of information the member itself has given.
  • By accepting membership of GHA Discovery the membership information as described above will be accessible to Global Hotel Alliance (GHA). GHA makes use of this information to give the members relevant offers and information. Unsubscribing from GHA e-mail newsletters can be done by following the unsubscribe link in these newsletters.
  • We reserve our position with regard to printing errors in published material and to change benefits, discounts and prices.
  • Thon Hotels reserve the right to change and update the Thon Member programme, including membership terms and conditions.

Disputes

  • Norwegian legislation applies in the case of disputes about terms and conditions in Thon Member.  Disputes will be resolved in Norwegian courts of law.
