Peaceful and centrally located
The first thing you notice when you arrive at Thon Partner Hotel Sorø is the enormous thatched roof – the largest in Denmark – that stretches across the beautiful buildings.
This symbiosis of peaceful nature and man-made culture characterises the idyllic surroundings two kilometres from Sorø, which is only an hour’s drive west of Copenhagen.
"If you have a car, I highly recommend combining a stay at the hotel with a trip to Copenhagen, especially if you're driving from Jutland or Funen," says the Hotel Manager.
Forests, lakes and hiking trails
The hotel is close to several lakes that are a birdwatching paradise, as well as a number of nice walking trails through the woods. Here you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, whether you want to jump into the water from one of the bathing jetties or spend time in nature without getting wet.
Enjoyed Sorø Lake from the Lille Claus boat, which can be rented by companies. Canoes and bikes are also perfect for exploring the area.
The town centre of Sorø is also a great place to spend the day. Art enthusiasts should definitely visit Sorø Art Museum, Kunstnergaarden and Museum Vestsjælland, all of which have a variety art collections and exhibitions.
"Sorø is a delightful town with lots of cultural activities. For example, we have the oldest school in Denmark, Sorø Academy, which is definitely worth visiting."
