Thon Hotel Vasa - new hotel in central Stockholm
Thon Hotel Vasa is opening on Vasagatan in March 2026. The hotel will offer 144 rooms in different categories, a brasserie restaurant, cocktail bar and modern fitness facilities - all in a late 1800s building that has now been completely renovated.
At Vasagatan 20, one of Stockholm’s most central addresses, the doors to Thon Hotel Vasa will soon open. This will be Thon’s first privately owned hotel in the city, with a clear focus on quality, ambiance and a cohesive design throughout.

Newly renovated with historical details
The building dates back to the late 1800s and has been operating as a hotel since 1907. It has now undergoing extensive renovations: All windows are being replaced, ventilation systems upgraded and both a restaurant and gym are being added. At the same time, distinctive details are being preserved to reflect the building’s history.
"These include a number of beautiful, large windows and renovating the stucco on walls and ceilings. We also have a really old and classic lift in the stairwell that has been renovated."

Rooms, service and breakfast experience
The hotel will have 144 rooms in seven categories, from single rooms to junior suites. Pets are welcome and guests can expect high-quality Jensen beds, soundproof windows, bedding of the highest standard and modern amenities.
"All rooms will also have their own Bose sound system, clothing steamer and casting to TV, so you can stream your own content," says the hotel director.
Breakfast will be extensive and feature local and sustainable ingredients, with that little something extra to get your day off to a great start.
"And of course, morning coffee will be served in silver pots!"
Restaurant and cocktail bar
The renovation includes adding a brasserie restaurant and cocktail bar. Both hotel guests and locals can gather here for breakfast, dinner or an evening drink. The ultimate goal is to create a vibrant meeting place with food and drinks prepared by a professional kitchen team.
"We want to become a social and engaging meeting point for both hotel guests and city residents. Here you will be able to enjoy both an à la carte and buffet breakfast, as well as dinner and drinks until late in the evening. Fresh and of only the highest quality prepared by a prestigous and professional culinary team," says Norgren.
Location and opening
The hotel is centrally located in the Stockholm city centre within walking distance of the central railway station and easy to reach by train, metro and bus. It is also close to shopping, museums and historic city areas.
"The location is perfect. We are right in the heart of all the action," says Norgren with a smile.
Thon Hotel Vasa is scheduled to open at the end of March 2026.
"I’m really excited about the opening of the hotel and the future," says Norgren.
