Fish plant

Start the day on a traditional fishing boat. Fish for cod in the sea around Lofoten, help hoist the fish ashore and even receive it at the 'plant' before ending the day with a 'taste of Lofoten' in the hotel restaurant.

The fish plants, both big and small, of Lofoten are as important as the Lofoten fisheries. These are where the fishermen gathered to deliver their catch and get paid for it. The fish is processed further at the fish plant: filleted, salted, frozen or prepared for transport or drying on a rack.

At the very end of the quay, Thon Hotel Svolvær has created its own 'fish plant'. Our guests can help 'process' their own catch here with one of our hosts and experience and learn all about the fishing industry in Lofoten. You can learn how to fillet, make caviar and prepare the catch for the evening meal. Fresh fish from Lofoten is a delicacy, but tastes even better when you catch it yourself.

The 'plant' offers memorable activities and tasting experiences for our guests, such as 'Taste Of Lofoten', 'Lofoten Seafood Theatre' and caviar courses.
