On Vasagatan 20, in the heart of Stockholm, an extraordinary hotel is opening its doors on 14 April 2026. Thon Hotel Vasa combines historical greatness with modern elegance - setting a new standard for quality, atmosphere and consistent design in the centre of the city.

Newly renovated with historical details
The hotel is located in an elegant building from the late 1800s that stretches over seven floors, with hotel operations in the building since 1907. The building is now undergoing extensive renovations to ensure state-of-the-art quality and comfort when the doors open. Some classic details have been preserved to ensure a real historic buzz throughout. These include a number of large, beautiful windows and renovating the stucco on walls and ceilings.
"We also have a very old and classic lift in the stairwell that has been renovated, the perfect finishing touch to the historic and elegant interior style," says a satisfied Norgren.
Excellent location
The hotel is very centrally located in the Stockholm city centre. From the hotel, you can walk directly to the central public transport hub, with train, metro and bus connections. It’s also close to the city’s best shopping district, Vasa Museum, Gamla Stan and Djurgården
"The location is perfect. We're right in the heart of all the action," says Norgren with a smile.
Unique restaurant and cocktail bar
The renovation includes adding a brasserie restaurant and cocktail bar. Both hotel guests and locals can gather here for breakfast, dinner or an evening drink. The ultimate goal is to create a vibrant meeting place with food and drinks prepared by a professional kitchen team.
"We want to become a social and engaging meeting point for hotel guests and city residents alike. Here you will be able to enjoy both an à la carte and buffet breakfast, as well as dinner and drinks until late in the evening. Fresh and of only the highest quality prepared by a highly skilled and professional culinary team," says Norgren.

The hotel will have 144 rooms in seven categories, from single rooms to junior suites. We promise exclusive quality bed linens and duvets, high-quality Jensen beds, blackout curtains and soundproof windows - all to ensure a good night’s sleep.

What better way to start your day than with a good workout using the latest equipment in attractive surroundings? The hotel will have a modern and stylish gym that can accommodate up to 25 people at a time. The age limit is 15 years and it is, of course, completely free for guests.

The hotel will offer an extensive and extraordinary breakfast, with a focus on great-tasting and sustainable products. We will offer both a la carte dishes and a breakfast buffet. And, of course, morning coffee will be served in silver pots. You don't have to go to bed hungry either, because we’re also building our own world-class brasserie restaurant and cocktail bar.
