At the Recycling Lottery, you can use empty cans and bottles as an insert when recycling. The prizes amount to up to one million NOK, and the profit goes to the Red Cross.
It was Olav Thon personally who established the Recycling Lottery, with consideration for both the environment and charitable work. The idea is that the Recycling Lottery will contribute to more recycling and create a lasting source of income for charities.
The profit from the Recycling Lottery goes directly to the Red Cross, which had received an incredible NOK 300 million at the end of 2020. The lottery has thereby become one of the organisation's most important sources of income.
The mortgage money goes to the local Red Cross work around Norway. Examples of activities are the visitor service, homework assistance, refugee guide, visitor service and the help force.
The Red Cross is a modern, voluntary humanitarian aid organisation with members all over the country. The organisation is politically and religiously independent. In war situations, the Red Cross shall contribute by providing protection and help to people who are victims of armed conflicts. In peacetime, the Red Cross is an emergency response organisation that provides help to vulnerable groups in society.
