3 days in Møre og Romsdal - from Art Nouveau to fjord and coastal living

Day 1: Experience Ålesund from the sea to the mountains

Start your journey in Ålesund, famous for its distinctive Art Nouveau architecture and stunning location between the mountains and sea. The city is a great base for exploring both the coast and fjords.

Day 2: From Ålesund to Fosnavåg

After breakfast, your road trip continues towards Fosnavåg. The drive takes around 90 minutes and passes through a landscape with bridges, islands and sea views.

Take a detour to Alne’s lighthouse on Godøya along the way. The lighthouse is located at the very edge of the sea and offers fantastic views of the coastal landscape.

On arrival, check in at Thon Hotel Fosnavåg, centrally located by the harbour and a great base for the day’s experiences.

Stop for lunch at Horisont Restaurant, where you can enjoy local ingredients and views of the shipping lanes before the afternoon’s activities.

Skotholmen

After a day of exciting experiences, you can take a boat from the pier at Thon Hotel Fosnavåg to Skotholmen, a small island that combines history, seaside living and culinary experiences. In a restored seaside cabin, seasonal dishes featuring seafood are served - a delightful end to the day. 

Day 3: Experience Runde and the wild Sunnmøre coast

The last day of the road trip takes you to Runde, one of Norway’s most famous bird cliffs. The drive from Fosnavåg takes around 40 minutes along beautiful coastal routes.

From spring to late summer, you can see puffins, sea eagles and bustling birdlife. The island also have great walking paths with views of the open sea.
