Two-factor authentication Thon Hotels
Two-factor authentication is an additional layer of security we use to ensure that you are the only one to access your account, even if others have your password.
If someone sees you enter a username and password, that person can log in with the same information and access your personal data, as well as information about your stay with us. In addition to your username and password, two-factor authentication ensures that others cannot log in.
Enable two-factor authentication with SMS
You can enable two-factor authentication via SMS code in your browser or the Thon Hotel app.
Enable in browser
Click on your name in the menu bar at the top and then go to 'My Page'.
Got to 'Settings'.
Select 'Safety'.
Select 'Two-factor authentication with SMS'.
In the next screen, you need to accept or change the phone number registered for you.
When you click on 'Next', the two-factor authentication with SMS will be enabled on the phone number you have provided.
Enable in app
Select 'Profile' in the Thon Hotels app.
Select 'Settings'
Select 'Safety'
Select 'Two-factor authentication'
Select 'Enable two-factor authentication'
Select 'Code via SMS'
In the next screen, you need to accept or change the phone number registered for you.
When you click on 'Next', the two-factor authentication with SMS will be enabled on the phone number you have provided.
Use
When you log in with your username and password, you will be sent an SMS with Thon Hotels as the sender.
Enter the code from the SMS in the text field that appears in the browser and click on 'Confirm'.
You are now logged in to your profile.
Enable two-factor authentication with app
Step 1: Install authenticator app
Before enabling two-factor authentication, you need to download and install an authenticator app on your phone. We recommend Google Authenticator, Authy or Microsoft authenticator, but you can choose which one you want to install.
Step 2: Enable two-factor authentication
You will periodically be asked if you want to enable two-factor authentication when logging into the app. You can also enable this yourself in the settings under 'My Profile' in the app or on 'My Page' on our website.
When you have enabled two-factor authentication, you will be asked to open the authenticator app you have installed. You will then get a code to enter in the app.
You have now enabled two-factor authentication and have also been sent a set of recovery codes. These are important to keep so that you can log in with one of these codes if you lose your mobile or do not have access to an app for authentication. It is therefore important to store these codes in a safe place.
Using two-factor authentication
When you sign in to the app after two-factor authentication is enabled, you will be asked to enter the code from your authenticator app. If you do not have access to an authenticator app, you can log in using one of your recovery codes.
Recovery codes
It is important to keep the recovery codes you received when enabling two-factor authentication. They can be used to log in if you lose your mobile or do not have access to an authenticator app. It is therefore important to store these codes in a safe place. If you are told that you only have a few codes left, it is important that you follow the steps to create new codes so that you never run out.
