Friday - Christmas lights, Ferris wheel and jazz
Check-in:
Check in at one of our 16 hotels in Oslo, drop off your bags and head straight out. It gets dark around 4 pm, after which the city lights up.
Afternoon:
Walk hand in hand to Jul i Vinterland at Spikersuppa. Ride the Ferris wheel and enjoy views of the Christmas lights along Karl Johan from the sky. You can also rent skates in the pavilion by the ice rink. The municipality of Oslo calls Spikersuppa the city’s most romantic ice rink and we couldn't agree more. If you want to visit more Christmas markets, you can find tips in our Christmas guide Get into the Christmas spirit in Oslo.
Dinner:
For dinner, you have the choice of two favourites near Spikersuppa: Bristol Pub on the corner at Hotel Bristol serves homemade smashburgers made from dry-aged meat from Bristol Grill. If you’re more into Italian cuisine and pasta, book a table at Osteria della Nonna at Thon Hotel Rosenkrantz Oslo. The name means 'grandmother’s tavern' and it feels just like home.
Evening:
End the evening at Karl Johans gate 35. Scotsman Pub, a Karl Johan landmark since 1974, has live music Tuesday to Saturday. The building also houses Victoria (Nasjonal Jazzscene). Listen to jazz from an intimate table for two right in front of the stage.
Saturday - afternoon tea, art and sauna on the fjord
Breakfast:
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Our award-winning breakfast buffet includes scrambled eggs, crispy bacon and freshly baked bread, and breakfast is always included in the rate when you stay with us.
Late morning:
Spend the morning Christmas shopping. In the Promenaden Fashion District, you'll find exclusive brands, while well-known chains can be found on Karl Johan. Take a detour to Steen & Strøm to see the window displays.
Lunch:
For lunch, we recommend afternoon tea in the Mauriske Salonger at Hotel Bristol. Enjoy small sandwiches, scones and sweets served on a multi-tired stand in a room that has been welcoming guests since 1920. It’s hard to find a more romantic lunch in Oslo!
Afternoon:
After lunch, you can admire art at the National Museum or MUNCH or attend a Christmas concert at Oslo Cathedral.
Late afternoon:
When it gets dark, head to Langkaia. Oslo Badstuforening has floating saunas with views of the Oslo Opera House Beach and Sørenga. Book a private sauna and enjoy it for yourselves for two hours. Warm up, jump into the fjord and warm up again as the lights from the Oslo Opera House reflect in the water. Don't forget a swimsuit, towel and wool socks.

Dinner:
With cheeks glowing, walk a few minutes to the Eufemia Bar at Thon Hotel Opera, which serves Nordic dishes with a European twist. If you're staying at Thon Hotel Slottsparken, you can relax at the Grotten Øl og Vinbar and enjoy an appetiser with your drinks.
Sunday - leisurely breakfast and winter light over the fjord
Breakfast:
Sleep in. Many of our hotels offer a late checkout when available, so ask at reception.
Late morning:
Walk along the Harbour Promenade from the Oslo Opera House towards Sørenga. Head up to the roof of the Oslo Opera House to enjoy views of the fjord and warm up with coffee and something sweet at one of the cafés in Oslobukta before heading home.
After checkout:
Time to pack your bag, perhaps together with a bag of Christmas gifts and a plan to return next Christmas.
Book a romantic stay at Thon Hotels and experience the Christmas spirit in Oslo together.
