Collaboration with NAV Alna and Bjerke 

Since 2013, the Olav Thon Group, led by Thon Hotels, has had a central collaboration with NAV in the districts of Alna and Bjerke. Through this collaboration, several of the hotels in Oslo offer internships to people who are struggling to get into working life. Since 2013, no fewer than 39 people have been offered internships.

The co-operation aims to contribute to people with an immigrant background gaining greater access to ordinary working life. The collaboration is a win-win situation for both parties - the candidates receive work training, language training and a network, the hotels allocate resources that can quickly be put to work.

In 2016, a total of 11 candidates from the joint introduction programme in Grorud, the qualification programme and the social services, respectively, were offered internships at 5 of our hotels in Oslo. Of these 11, the work experience has led to jobs for two interns, and several of those who had work experience in 2016 continue in 2017 with the goal of finding a job.

The Pøbel project

After a long period of informal cooperation, the Olav Thon Group entered into a central cooperation agreement with Pøbelprojektet in 2017. In 2016, 8 trainees had the opportunity to try out their skills at our hotels. In addition, five employees at Thon Hotels and Thon Eiendom have contributed with contributions to the Employer’s Day at Pøbelprojektet.
