Looking for a location where your colleagues can relax and enjoy a break from their daily work routine? Our hotel in Asker is located in a quiet area by Oslo Fjord, less than 30 minutes from the capital. We have 155 rooms, an indoor pool, gym, large garden and sunny patio - as well as our own bar and one of Asker’s best restaurants.

“Here you can be expect a seamless experience, from booking to checking out,” says Hotel Director Jeanette Bjerke Meland.

Yet it’s the location that really sets it apart," she believes.

"It’s green and peaceful here and the hotel is only a short walk from the fjord, where you can take a dip in the sea or stroll along the picturesque coastal path."

Flexible meeting rooms - and no fewer than 15 group rooms

The hotel is often used by associations and the public sector, but is equally suitable for private companies of all sizes," says Booking Manager Martine Ufer.

"Flexibility is key and we can host both large conferences and small meetings based on guest needs.

The largest conference room can accommodate 275-300 people in a theatre layout. We also have two rooms with a capacity of 80 or 110 people, and three medium-sized rooms for smaller groups. All meeting rooms have screens and projectors and the largest rooms have both a handheld and lapel microphones."

Konglungen is the largest conference facility and can accommodate up to 300 people in a theatre layout. If you’re hosting a dinner or reception, there’s room for 200 people in a banquet layout.

The best part? There are 15 group rooms that are all located close to the conference facilities.

"Many places do not have enough group rooms, so groups have to split up into the common areas and narrow hallways when working in smaller groups. That's not necessary here," says Ufer.

If you want complete privacy, you can book the entire third floor. Several lounge areas and extra dining areas, such as Podiet and Vintergarten, provide plenty of space during breaks - and we serve smoothies, fresh and dried fruits, sandwiches and nuts.

"We also serve waffles and scones in the late morning and soft serve ice cream in the afternoon. The latter is especially popular," says Ufer with a smile.

Soft serve ice cream is served in the break area just outside the conference facilities. During breaks, participants can chat and enjoy something to eat and drink.

Barbecuing on the patio and customised wine menu

Restaurant Ask serves both lunch and dinner and is run by F&B Manager Javier Scarone Candia. Much of the food is prepared on the kitchen’s own Josper grill and the menu can be anything from a buffet to a two or three-course meal.

In summer, the patio is the main attraction, with a barbecue buffet and the evening sun. And not only 'house wine' is served.

“Javier is a wine expert and loves to serve wines from our wine cellar that pair perfectly with the menu,” says Meland.

The aperitif can be served in different areas, such as on the patio or in the bar.

A team-building ambiance

After a long day of meetings, the group can relax in Vinterhagen by the fireplace or challenge each other to a round of pool, shuffleboard or darts in the bar area. Most rooms have their own balcony or ground terrace, so it’s also easy to find a quiet space.

"Since the hotel is located in a quiet area, the group tends to stick together. I think a lot of people enjoy that fact and it makes it easier to socialise, creating a sort of resort vibe," says Meland.

From bathing and boccia to beer tasting and hockey

Quiet surroundings do not necessarily mean that there are no activities to be enjoyed. If you wan to add a social component to the professional content, there are lots options:

  • 'Walk and talk' along the coastal path towards Konglungen or to the coastal pearl Vollen and its charming bakery
  • Swimming at Hvalstrand or in the hotel’s own pool and sauna
  • Free scavenger hunt, boccia court and traditional garden games on the large lawn
  • Beer tasting at Wettre Brewery, only a short walk from the hotel
  • Hockey match with Frisk Asker in the nearby Varner Arena

We also work closely with a number event organisations that offer customised team-building activities.

Easy access - by bus, train or car

Take the express bus from Nationaltheatret in Oslo or the bus from the Asker railway station, where the airport express train stops. If you're arriving by car or bus, there is plenty of parking in the hotel’s spacious car park.

Whether you're planning a two-day meeting, workshop, daytime course or complete conference, everything you need can be found here.

“We provide personal service and seamless logistics and do our best to ensure that you go home with full notepads and well-rested,” says Meland.

"And hopefully with a smile on your face and a desire to return."
