Dreaming of a trip to Italy and the delightful scent of stone oven-baked pizza? Or perhaps a delicious tiramisu? At Rifugio della Nonna at Thon Hotel Snø, you get both - as well as various other flavourful dishes.

Rifugio della Nonna is a new Italian restaurant in Lørenskog that serves northern Italian specialities inspired by the Alps. And the restaurant has already received acclaim from the local press: Delicious taste of northern Italy: “It's sure to become a new favourite!”, writes Romerikes Blad and gives it a score of five out of six.

The menu reflects the location at SNØ, one of the world’s wildest all-season indoor arenas for snow adventures.

“We serve Italian food inspired by the Alps and northern Italy,” says the restaurant.

The menu features popular and well-known Italian dishes like gnocchi, risotto and pizza, as well as Austrian specialities such as schnitzel.

“Those who have travelled to the region will recognise dishes like Vitello Tonnato, Gnocchi di polenta or Trota di Montagna,” explains the restaurant.

The dishes on the menu are written in Italian. Fortunately, they are also translated into Norwegian, including the ingredients used.

The reason is that Rifugio della Nonna uses local ingredients wherever possible – from mountain trout and beef cheeks to seasonal apples and truffle cheese from Myrdal.

"We use Norwegian ingredients and local producers as much as possible and have adapted the menu to achieve this. For example, we serve kohlrabi with burrata cream and locally produced cured meat on pizza."

Italian cuisine for everyone
Freely translated, Rifugio della Nonna means 'grandma's mountain lodge'. The black interior with gold details and vibrant Thon colours create the perfect setting for both a romantic dinner for two and a relaxing evening with friends or good colleagues.

And if you’re one of those who prefers to see where and how their food is prepared, you can sit close to the open kitchen and watch the kitchen staff at work.

The restaurant has its own bar and banquet rooms, which can be used for private events like a birthday party, confirmation or work get-together.

The restaurant is a neighbourhood eatery with an informal and inviting ambiance, large, bright windows and high ceilings.

Rifugio della Nonna offers an exciting choice for dining out in Lørenskog. The restaurant is open seven days a week.

"The food is absolutely delicious. Go ahead and order something you've never tried before."

According to the restaurant, there is something for everyone on the menu, but they especially recommend the pizzas, which are baked the traditional way in the restaurant’s own wood-fired pizza oven.

"The pizza is amazing! Traditionally wood-fired with a thin, homemade crust, just like you get in Italy."
